CNCF-hosted Co-located Schedule

Monday March 31, 2025 16:40 - 17:15 BST
As maintainers of subprojects we are all aware that the repositories in the Kubernetes GitHub organizations are owned by the CNCF. But, what does this mean in practice? If a project has linkage to a specific infrastructure provider, what does that mean for its maintenance and roadmap? How can we ensure that features and bug fixes are reviewed in a timely fashion, but do not create additional toil for the maintainers? How can we promote healthy communities that extend beyond engineering responsibilities in a world where some projects are also products?

Inspired by conversations in SIG Cloud Provider, this presentation is a community discussion on the topic of project ownership and maintenance of Kubernetes subprojects. This session will start with a brief slide deck to share context, and then open to a discussion with all participants. Through this session we hope to build consensus and share understanding of how our open source projects are maintained and are healthy for the future.
